Six stages. One accountable team.
Each programme moves through the same development sequence, scaled to the complexity of the product and to what the customer already has in place.
Grand Dragon develops leather bags and small leather goods through six managed stages — design, materials, sampling, production, quality and logistics — in owned factories in China and Bangladesh.
Design & development
We start with what exists: a sketch, a tech pack, a competitor sample or a photograph. Our technical team produces a construction proposal with dimensions, seam allowances, reinforcement points and a component breakdown. Where the brief is open, we propose two or three directions with cost implications rather than a single option.
Material & hardware co-development
You bring the feeling; we turn it into a scored, comparable sample. Hand-feel sets, leather × structure pairings, custom hardware developed from a drawing or a 3D file, plating ladders for tone — each step ends in a deliverable you can hold.
Everything decided here is written into a Golden Sample Card — BOM, colour lots, hardware revision and tolerances — so reorders and second-country runs start from the same place.
Sampling
Proto, fit and pre-production samples are made in our sample room, not outsourced. Each round is photographed, measured and logged with the corrections made. The approved pre-production sample is sealed and signed; it becomes the reference for bulk inspection.
Typical sampling lead time is 2 weeks after material approval, depending on hardware development.
Production
Cutting, skiving, edge finishing, assembly and final pressing are organised into lines with defined operations. Critical operations — handle attachment, zip setting, edge paint — are checked at the station before the piece moves on.
Programmes are allocated to China or Bangladesh according to capacity, cost target, duty position and delivery window. A single customer programme can run in both sites with a common quality standard.
Quality assurance
Three gates: incoming material inspection, in-line inspection at defined operations, and final inspection against the sealed sample. Final inspection uses AQL Level II with appearance, measurement, function and packing criteria. Results are recorded photographically and shared with the customer.
Logistics & export
We pack to the customer's specification: individual polybag or tissue, desiccant, carton strength, labelling and carton marking. Shipping documents are prepared in-house and coordinated with the customer's forwarder. Consolidation with other suppliers is possible on request.
What we can make, precisely.
| Category | Typical constructions | Materials | Key operations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Women's bags | Tote, shoulder, crossbody, clutch, top-handle, bucket | Cowhide, calf, sheep, goat, PU/PVC, canvas | Gusset assembly, flap setting, chain attachment, edge paint |
| Men's bags | Briefcase, messenger, backpack, travel holdall | Full-grain cowhide, coated canvas, nylon | Frame and handle construction, zip setting, lining |
| Small leather goods | Bifold, long wallet, zip wallet, card holder, key pouch | Small-grain leather, lining, microfiber | Skiving, slot folding, edge paint, stitching density control |
| Belts | Cut-edge, stitched, reversible, braided | Full-grain and corrected-grain cowhide | Strap cutting, hole punching, buckle setting, edge finishing |
Constructions shown are representative. If your product is outside this list, send the reference — we will tell you honestly whether it fits our lines.
What we need from you to start.
